3 years ago for 3 months of my life I lived in a very violent abusive relationship that was endured also I experienced homelessness. For the last 3yrs I was healing & I stayed silent, in the last few weeks the voice of the story grew louder and louder, till I sat with it for the last couple of week to write about it. I was very lucky after this period of time, a friend of mine gave me an old notebook to write in, the stories, random memories and other information, not in the book. It also includes the emails from the perpetrator on the day I walked away, I didn't answer any of the except for the police when they sent me an email, which is also included in the book. There are still very significant gaps in my memory and there is still a lot I do not remember at this moment in time. As I was writing this other random memories started to appear, so they have been included, 3 yrs after the experience. I've come to innerstand, that, sometimes trauma and repeated abuse, no matter how long or short the period of time, causes some part of yourself to not be able to heal fully, no matter the amount of time given, they have been ground into dust and scattered to the wind. The only way forward is to rebuild from the rubble, a stronger more sturdier foundation, from within. I no longer seek the validation of others nor others to uplift me. Within this Heart , I know, I have the tools, knowledge and wisdom to regain my life and light. And when I don't I seek solitude, as the answers do come to me. The book is not about victimhood, my story illustrates the journey to recovery and how the human soul, can recover, even when it feels as though it wont and you cannot see the light ahead. I nearly stopped and gave up many times, yet I kept on going with this little voice inside saying 'Keep going, you're going great and just a little further, your almost there'. I appreciate all those who prayed for my safe return and never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself at times, your encouragement means the world to me.
These wise words were imparted to me years ago,
"Healer, heal thyself!"
This then set me on a course of shadow work, self accountability, self reflections and the search for wholeness, within this body of me.
I have learnt that to be comfortable in your skin means to drop the projections, opinions and self limiting beliefs of the past.
To Love yourself more than life itself!
This then sets for a chain reaction of self worth, self belief, confidence, bravery, boldness and a strong foundation built by you, that no one can topple, but you.
